The Ford Mustang became a cult car from the start, but gained fame with the movie ‘Bullit’. Yet the original Mustang was pretty awful, owing to poor brakes and skinny cross-ply tires. Fat wheels and tires helped with the adhesion, and then you could put Ford big block crate engines into Mustangs to really up the ante. In 1970 mustang big block cars were realistic, and that is still a good way to go – just find some Ford big block crate engines and put one in.

On earlier models,  you might need some parts, but the  frame mounts for big block in 1967 mustang would do. These 1970 mustang big block cars were pretty powerful, and had a great exhaust note. You can find out what engine fits what car at some of the  big block ford forums.

Of course, you can also get a modern Mustang with a V-8 which is quite powerful but inside is rather ordinary. But it does live on as a true Mustang. The ultimate  ford big block crate engines have cylinder blocks machined from billet and are in full race spec. Probably a bit much for an old Mustang.

The Ford Mustang…a Leader with Big Block V8 engine

Ford Mustang for long has been the best muscle car ever manufactured. At present there three muscle cars in the market which are in great demand – they are Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro.

Among them the Mustang is the best rated because of its features and specifications. The Mustang is an iconic car which is known throughout the world. And it is an epitome of energy, power, luxury and interiors. This is a true American Icon and there are very few cars which embody the rugged American individualism like the Ford Mustang.

The Ford Mustang is admired for its powerful engine, interior designs and iconic exterior, stellar performance and spectacular crash tests. The 2008 is a worthy successor of all previous Mustangs the new 2008 Ford mustang is back with its classic bad boy looks.

And again it ranks the top. Till yesterday the V8 engine muscle car era was dying away but today Ford Mustang faces a stiff competition from Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro. Still Mustang wins for its quality and winner costs.

The 2008 Ford Mustang is available as V6 and GT in both Deluxe and Premium trims. They have also introduced the Bullitt trim. The Mustang is also offered as a convertible and it ranks high as the affordable convertible car. The V6 model of Mustang can offer you a mileage of 17/26 mpg but the V8 giant will stick to 15/22 mpg only.

Performance: With its intimidating growl and 300 horsepower the Mustang can be the best American muscle car. The rear wheel drive is a properly refined car in all forms. The engine is perfect compared to Nissan 350Z and Mazda RX-8.

big block ford forums There are two engine choices for Ford Mustang. For Deluxe and Premium you have the 4.0 liter V6 engine which is equipped with 210 horsepower for a stout performance. Again the Bullitt, Premium and GT Deluxe with 4.6 liter V8 engine which is able to create a horse power of 300. Thus such engine provides enough power to burn the rubber of your tires.

Though the V6’s out is enough to get your blood flow fast the V8 growls like a tiger and moves the majestic way. The new Ford Mustang is clearly faster, sharper and refined than old Mustangs. The performance is vigorous and its exhaust noise is intrusive. Regardless of whether you choose manual shift or automatic shift transmission the fun and thrill remains the same for the new Mustang.

E85 460 Mustang

Hi,i’m currently building a fox mustang with a 460 from a 1975 t-bird that as low miles. The plan is to use E85(green and high octane)but the stock compression is very low and doesnt take full advantage of the higher octane.I have a couple of options but would like your opinion on what is best.First option is to find a set of DOVE heads if i can and slapping them on(dont know exacly how much compression this will give) and second is removing the pistons and putting some keith black hyper domed pistons in the stock holes wich would give me over 11 to 1.The rest of the build would consiste of 850 e85 demon carb-weiand stealth intake-hooker full headers-light porting and stock valves if i keep the d3ve heads-275 dual energy cam with bigger springs and stock valvetrain.

I’m looking at making power below 6000rpm and i think this combo should do it,keep in mind this is a cheap build and i dont want to dismantel the motor more then i have to.Also do you think that the stock components will live at this RPM range, this motor will only see the ocasional drag race with street drag radials and is mostly a street car.

Any estimate how much hp and torke a como like this will make?
Thank you for your help in advance.

Big block  Mustangs & Fords

I was reading the story by Jim Smart about Ed Worthington installing FI on a 390 big block. I can’t fine anything out about the wiring kit from Speed Pro. Can anyone tell me anything about this? I look on the internet with no luck. I would like to know more.  Thanks

I’m assuming this is a story on our web site you are referring to? Can you provide a link to it? Many of our older stories are online and companies come and go and product lines come and go as well…

There are many options for adding EFI to an FE if that’s what you’re looking to do.
