There are quite a few old Chevys around, and one way of having some fun is to to get either a big block chevy engine rebuild unit and put it in, or any chevy 350 big block engine. This is not so hard because the chevy 350 big block was installed in the later Blazers and other models up to 1991.
You can either buy a 350 chevy big block crate engine, which can have just about any power output you want – but I wouldn’t recommend one for an old SUV. If you do get a 350 chevy big block crate engine specify one with high torque rather than high power output. This will give you good acceleration.
The thing about the Chevrolet big block engine rebuild is that lots of people know how to do it, so you should be able to get your chevy 350 big block performing like new.
Needless to say, you get go-faster stuff for these chevy 350 big block engines, whether they are big block crate engines or not.
If you want more power, the best bet is a new manifold and carburetor, and then an exhaust system.

It must be a wonderful retroactive fad or fashion. Driving a 1969 SUV model in a freeway teeming with hundreds of brand new SUVs will make other drivers truly mad. Those wondering stares from state-of-art power windows would only mean them asking "What year did the first SUVs come out?" Taunt them more with your loud, antiquated car-stereo. Open that manually-driven window wide and wave your hands like a politician.
You have every reason to be proud. This model survived the competition with the International Harvester’s Scout and the Ford’s Bronco. Blazer’s four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive variants were manufactured using these powerful engines. The 4.1 L (250 in) 250 I6 engine was used from 1969 to 1984. The bigger 4.8 L (292 in) 292 I6 engine was out in 1970 until 1971.
The more powerful 5.0 L (307 in) 307 V8 engine was commission for the Blazer from 1969 to 1973. The most powerful engine ever mounted on the Chevy Blazer is the 5.7 L (350 in) 350 V8 engine in service 1969 to 1991, the last year it was manufactured.
The production of Blazer and its variant stopped in 1991 to pave way to the production of K1500 Blazer that was renamed the General Motors Corporation’s Yukon of the GMT400 platform. In 1995, smaller S-10 Blazers with a very different body continued production after the big K5 Blazers continued as the Tahoe.

No doubt, the Blazer is a predecessor of extremely powerful automobiles. It reaped praises from those who does not want to experience losing power when they need it.
